DETAILS

As we near the end of our wedding season, Sarah & Scott’s wedding reminded me of why I love shooting weddings, especially when the weddings have so many lovely details.  The details at this wedding were there every single time I turned around making me so happy and boosted my creativity.

It was a morning wedding, Teddy and I had to be at the Waverley Inn to start shooting at 7:00am, which made for an early day since we had arrived home very late from Laura & Geoff’s wedding the night before.  The ladies got ready at the very beautiful, and historic Waverley Inn on Barrington Street in Halifax; it is such a quaint space and I love it. I have realized that morning weddings are quite wonderful, you are there early but finished by 4:00pm, which was very strange for Teddy and I.  We didn’t know what to do with ourselves for the rest of the day.

The reception consisted of a bountiful brunch & mimosas at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, a very beautifully curated homemade sweet table, and many other little features, from homemade pinwheels, to adorable mints as favours and a homemade Photo Booth wall (with wallpaper); WOW.

There were so many sweet little touches that day, my favourite being Sarah’s surprise wedding dress reveal.  Sarah had fallen in love with her dream dress, but the stars weren’t aligned at the time and she decided on a second choice (which her bridesmaids had seen). In the end (only a couple of months before the wedding), a few things changed for the better and Sarah was able to go back to her first choice and bought her dream dress.  She kept it a surprise from everyone until she stepped into it; and voila, the surprise dress reveal was born. The bridal bouquets were breathtaking, thanks to the ladies at Props Floral Design; so many blush colours together they make me melt.

Sarah & Scott shared a very emotional first look with the gorgeous Northwest Arm as their backdrop (even a boat with an appropriate name in the background, see if you can catch it). Their bridal party were amazing people, a lot of laughing happened that day (in between the joyous tears).

We had amazing weather, a perfect breeze to blow the perfect wisps of hair at the perfect time, and Scott & Sarah jetted off from their wedding for an afternoon nap, then to their personal wedding dinner for just the two of the in the private room at Chives (we snuck back for a few photos).  It was beautifully intimate, and if I could do my wedding all over again, I would follow this exact itinerary. The entire day was very emotional (the groom Scott, a very dear friend to both Teddy and I, had a teary smile all day), I couldn’t stop having little cries while editing these photos; I am so in love with them. I will warn you, have tissues handy when you scroll through these.

Thank you Scott & Sarah for such a wonderful day, being such amazing friends and for introducing us to morning weddings, we love you to bits.

As I enter this Thanksgiving weekend, I feel so thankful for my husband, son, dog, health, family and friends; Life is Good.details-halifax-wedding-photographers-www.lapierrephotography.comdetails-halifax-wedding-photographers-www.lapierrephotography.comdetails-halifax-wedding-photographers-www.lapierrephotography.comdetails-halifax-wedding-photographers-www.lapierrephotography.comdetails-halifax-wedding-photographers-www.lapierrephotography.com

As I sit here on a ship off the coast of Brazil, back at work, I’ve just been able to relive a moment of beauty and love that filled my life back on that August day. Nicole and Teddy, this body of art, it truly cannot be defined as “work”, touches on everything that was special about that day. Every detail, right down to the little caterpillar on Sarah’s dress, which by the way fell off as she said “I do”, shows the passion and dedication that you employed in this beautiful portfolio. Lissa Westlake and I really struggled as well with the concept of a morning wedding but you have helped me confirm that there could not have been a better choice for these two beautiful people. Thank you so much for this keepsake that I am sure Scott and Sarah will treasure for the remainder of their lives, it is so obvious that this truly is your passion. Wonderful.
