Yesterday in the valley was the most perfect and uplifting day, I think I discovered a whole new creative spot in my brain. Myself, Nicole McInnis of OH DINA! and our gorgeous model Drea (who you may recognize from Vatican’s prom photos last year) took a drive through the countryside and landed at The Tangled Garden in Grand Pre. You may remember this beautiful paradise featured in Martha Stewart Magazine, such an enchanted place to visit. I was so excited for my first stylized wedding dress shoot with OH DINA!
We were so in love with the blossoms and flowers all over the property, and the apple orchard across the street. We laughed, joked and were absolutely silly at times with excitement from all of the lovely images we were capturing; it was magical.
Drea was such a stellar model, she knew exactly what Nicole and I were thinking, and moved into each pose with grace and conviction; she is a divine creature and will be our model going forward for all of our other amazing ideas.
Canadian designer, Maureen Patricia from Toronto was so gracious in sending us two of her handmade wedding gowns to use for our shoot, and they fit Drea so beautifully. Maureen, we cannot thank you enough, and if I could get married again, I would be donning one of your incredible designs. Ladies, if you are looking for a truly magical custom made gown, please reach out to Maureen, she is spectacular at what she does. We hoped that we captured them the way you saw them to be worn in your mind.
HoneyBee Vintage Bridal let us borrow the extremely long, and gorgeous flowy vintage veil; it complimented the dresses perfectly.
The headpieces you ask, well each one was handmade by my very special friend and creative partner in crime, Nicole McInnis of OH DINA!. There were so many gems, so wonderfully hand crafted, and Drea wore each and every piece so perfectly as if they were made for her. To all of my current and future brides, if you want to make a statement or just look pretty when you head to the grocery store, get in touch with Nicole; there is a piece for everyone and every occasion. Her bridal headpieces and sashes are to die for, and if you were wearing one on your wedding day, trust me it would be remembered.
FUN FACT – Nicole made the apple blossom flower crown out of REAL apple blossoms from the orchard, while I put the fishbone braid in Drea’s hair; she IS that crafty, we left it behind for the farmer.
The gorgeous, lush, loose bouquets were custom made for us by Charlotte Pierce owner of The Flower Shop on Granville Street, and she replicated EXACTLY what Nicole and I had explained; they are breathtaking. We truly encourage our brides to set outside of traditional with their floral bouquets for their wedding day, it is such a small detail that makes such a HUGE impact.
The lovely intricate jewelry pieces (except for the engagement ring; that is mine and my beautiful husband designed that for me from Fireworks Gallery) were borrowed from Lady Luck Boutique in Halifax’s Hydrostone Market. The pearls pieces were made by Earth Goddess Designs, and the clock component pendant made by Marina Smith of Arcane Angel. So, if you want to find something lovely, head into Lady Luck they have so many amazing things in there that I could spend a week in there and still not see everything.
If you look very closely you will also see that Drea is wearing a GIVING KEYS bracelet, this is such a a great organization and I encourage you all to visit their website and purchase a piece to keep the love going.
