This past June, I had the opportunity to attend a workshop in California, hosted by Erich McVey, one of my all time favourite wedding photographers. It was a beautiful creative experience, and I have made a few tweeks in how I capture moments, and it is all for the better. I want my images to feel authentic, like you can almost hear the couple breathing when you look at the images. This may sound strange, but it makes a lot of sense if you really give it thought.
This was one of six that I had the chance to photograph, and I plan to share them over the next few months. This theme was Pattern, which showcased dainty vignettes, beautiful lace, silk tulle and a muted colours; it was a romantic coastal elopement. The deliciously curated tablescape was simple, rustic and romantic, scroll to the end of the photos to see all of the vendor details.
I only had a few minutes, and had to share the floor with 30 other photographers in order to get my images. It really forced me to think about what it was I wanted to photograph about the situation, and be more strategic with my capture. As a creative, we often feel like we have to always be innovative and fresh, and sometimes we get stumped as a result. That said, I am excited to start this new creative journey, and so very thankful to the couples who trust me with their vision, and let me run with it.
I am honoured that the session was featured today on Cottage Hill, a beautiful and inspiring fine art online journal in the US.
