de LIGHTED

When Michael de Adder, editorial cartoonist, asked me to take his portrait I was excited,  a little nervous and somewhat star-struck (who am I kidding, I was really star-struck).  I have always loved his work, and make a point to look for his depictions in every newspaper I pick up.  I really enjoyed my time with him, and he was an amazing subject.

Teddy, Vat and I were in Chapters the other night, just browsing through their interesting “stuff” section, when Vat said, “look momma, its Mike de Adder’s book”, so I thought to myself, I remembered him mentioning he may use one of the images for his book, so I went over to have a look….  and there it was, his photo, that I took.

I was beaming, and even squealing a little inside while quietly flipping through the book,  tickled at the idea of the thousands of people seeing the photograph that Mike trusted me to capture for him.

So like the goof that I am, I asked Teddy to take a picture of me with Mike’s book in the middle of Chapters; this is totally normal, right?  (my goodness I embarrass my husband to no end….)

What really put the icing on the cake for me, was seeing my name on the inside cover page.

I was beyond thrilled, and it was at that moment that I thought to myself, “wow, this photography venture is getting real, and I was truly proud of the accomplishment”.
